SAVE THE DATE: Our one-day community conference shifts the focus from discussing maternal health disparities to embodying solutions. Hear from maternal health leaders from across Massachusetts on topics such as the maternal health workforce (including doulas and midwives), mental health, lactation support and more.
Details on how to participate in our community quilt – A Stitch of Hope – are below. Stay tuned for the official invite to RSVP!

Stitching together a story of hope
Calling all individuals to help support maternal health equity!
We’re inviting you to be part of a meaningful project—a Community Quilt for Maternal Health. Each homemade square will represent a story, hope, or message of support for mothers and families in our community.
Your contribution can be:
- A fabric square with a design, word, or symbol that matters to you.
- The fabric square should contain: A short message of encouragement or empowerment
- Artwork that reflects care and equity in maternal health.
This quilt will serve as a powerful visual of our shared commitment to maternal health equity. Once complete, we will present to Governor Maura Healey and/or Mayor Michelle Wu in the spring.
Details on how to participate:
– Each organization should provide one 12” X 12” square, including a 1.5” border with no artwork.
– A wide variety of fabrics are acceptable. Polyester blend or cotton are popular choices. You are welcome to buy materials or reuse an old piece of clothing or table linen.
– Designs can be sewn on or created with fabric markers.
– Organizations are welcome to submit multiple squares.
– Individual artists are also welcome to participate.
Please send squares to:
- Mimi Gardner.
- NeighborHealth, 10 Gove Street, East Boston, MA 02128.
Deadline: All squares are due to Mimi Gardner by Friday, February 27, 2026.
